FINALLY

So we are finally getting to contact the outside world!!! The Barnabas team got here and felt sorry for us, so they are taking us out of the village to use the internet, eat out, and load up on supplies. What a God-send!!! I was laying in bed this morning (naturally I was the only one up), and I kept hearing ENGLISH! I was like ¨guys...do you hear that?!¨ *Note...there is a gap in the top of the wall between the rooms, so we can hear eachother...Tommy is NOT in our room* They were like...No...Go to sleep. Then, a couple minutes later, we hear ¨Tommy?!¨ Tommy actually knows the team from home, so that is really cool!

So we have been having interesting lunches (the meal we cook ourselves)...Mac and Cheese (minus the milk and cheese), barely cooked spaghetti, and rice that is both under-cooked and over-cooked at the same time. Don´t ask how that happened...It sure is interesting, though!

The water in the shower may possibly be the coldest thing I have ever felt in my whole life. It´s actually river water that comes out of a spicket. I was quite offended when I stuck my head underneath it (after I caught my breath four minutes later), but at least we have a way to get clean.

Does anybody know if it is possible for a three year old to have colic? We are 99.9999999999% sure that the child that lives underneath us does, either that or she is just extremely spoiled. I´m pretty sure it´s the latter.

There is a HUGE fiesta in one of our towns this week. From what we have figured out, it is for the World Cup. We aren´t sure, but we know the family we are staying with wants us to got with them, and everybody in the whole village keeps asking us if we are going to dance...Ahem. Apparently, ¨we are white¨doesn´t mean anything to them, and they keep telling me that I can be Shakira, so this should be interesting...No, I am NOT belly-dancing!!!

Anyway, thanks sooooo much for all your love and support. If you would like to check Audra and Tommy´s blogs, I will try to list them on here for you. Thanks everyone!!!

  • Hey Sally,
It's fun to read about your experiences! Oh, the things we take for granted here! If the cold water didn't take your breath away, a goose sneaking into the shower with you might - Just ask Elaine sometime. Love ya'll and praying for you!
